# In-person payments

> Turn your phone into a payment terminal: enter an amount, show a QR code, and get paid in USDC on the spot with no card reader or added hardware, for the same 1.5% fee as online.

Soca turns the phone you already own into a payment terminal. You enter the amount, the customer scans a QR code, and the payment confirms on your screen seconds later, settled in USDC with a digital receipt for the customer. There is no card reader, no terminal rental, and nothing to install at the counter.

## How do I set up my store?

Open **Dashboard → In-person** and choose **Set up store**. The setup wizard takes about two minutes and covers four steps:

1. **Store details**: Your store name and type, where you sell (a physical location, mobile, or pop-up), and your local display currency. Customers see prices in your currency; payments complete in USDC.
2. **Payment settings**: Where in-person sales settle: pick one of your [named wallets](/docs/business/wallets-and-treasury) or create a new one, plus optional tax (a preset or custom rate, or tax included in prices) and optional tips (customer-chosen percentages or merchant-entered).
3. **Customer experience**: Upload your logo (it appears on the QR screen, the checkout, and receipts) and add receipt details like an email, phone, or website. You can also turn on a confirmation sound and vibration for the moment a payment lands.
4. **Review and finish**: Check the summary, including a preview of exactly what customers will see, and finish. Your store is ready to charge immediately.

Everything is editable later under **In-person → Store settings**, where you can also pause the store. Pausing turns off new in-person payments without touching anything else.

## How do I charge a customer?

1. **Enter the amount**: Tap **Charge** (from the dashboard header or the In-person page) and type the total on the keypad, in your local currency. Tax and tip are applied according to your store settings.
2. **Customer scans the QR code**: Your phone shows a payment QR code with your logo and the total. The customer scans it with their phone and pays from their Soca account or their own Solana wallet; no app is required on their side beyond a camera.
3. **Confirmation on screen**: The moment the payment confirms on-chain, your screen shows it (with the sound and haptic cue if enabled). Like every Soca payment, it is recorded only once it is real, never on a timeout.

## What does an in-person payment cost?

In-person pricing is the same as online: you pay **1.5%** when you get paid, and a customer paying with a Soca account gets 1% off the listed price (a customer paying from a connected wallet pays the full price). Either way you receive the same net, because Soca funds that discount from its own fee, not yours. Compare that with typical card rates of 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction, settling in days, and remember there is no hardware to buy or rent. Full details are on the [pricing page](/docs/pricing).

## How do I track daily sales?

The In-person page shows a **Today** view: total sales in your local currency, the number of payments completed, USDC received, and your average sale. Each in-person payment also appears in the main [Payments](/docs/business/payments) ledger with everything else, so exports and totals stay in one place.

## Do customers get receipts?

Yes. Every in-person sale produces a digital receipt the customer can open, share, or have sent by email or text, branded with your logo and the receipt details from your store settings. There is no paper to run out of, and you keep the matching record on the payment itself.

## What in-person features does Soca not have?

Deliberately, quite a few. There are no employee roles, registers, hardware integrations, inventory, or multi-location management. Soca in-person is a fast way for one business to charge at the counter, not a point-of-sale suite.
