How recovery works
Automatic dunning ladder
A failed renewal retries after 24h, then 48h, then 48h — up to 4 attempts. Recoverable failures (like a low balance) heal themselves as funds arrive.
Access stays live during grace
Customers keep access through the period they already paid for while dunning runs, so a transient failure never locks out a paying member.
Non-recoverable failures flagged
A revoked or expired authorization can't be retried — it's marked 'Needs customer action' so you can reach out instead of waiting.
Failure reasons
Insufficient funds
Customer's wallet didn't have enough USDC at charge time. Retries as funds may arrive.
Authorization revoked
Customer revoked the recurring charge authorization. They need to re-approve to continue.
Authorization expired
The recurring authorization window lapsed. Customer needs to renew it.
Network error
A transient RPC or network issue interrupted the charge. Safe to retry automatically.
